LIVES TRANSFORMED BY EDUCATION, LOVE AND PERSEVERANCE
Article from: Lopez Family. In 2001, we initiated a project which main objective is to offer an integral education based on christian values to children and teenagers with very limited economic resources in Pedernales.
Volunteers visited the city slums, contacting children who werenīt studying at any school.
Most were children begging on the streets, suffering physical and psychological violence and with family and friends who were doing drugs. Several were already using drugs and were gangs members, some of them used to carry knives.
We started with 45 boys and girls between 7 and 17 years, we now have 70 students.
Besides classes, they receive love and understanding from their teachers, who can attest to the change that the children are experiencing in their lives. They have learned about Jesusī love and the salvation He offers.
The childrenīs self-esteem has improved, they have left the gangs and now have a better relationship with their parents. All this thanks to the support of people who have joined this effort.
Last October, we started building four classrooms. So far the children have received lessons in a warehouse provided by a cooperative of fishermen, but the site doesnīt offer any basic facility for the development of the classes.
All grades are together in one room, and the noise level makes it difficult to work.
We started with very limited economic resources, but we are confident that we will receive the necessary support to complete the construction. The kids are excited because they know that those classrooms will not be only their school but also because they know they can get there as their own home because they know the way the teachers have worked over the years: showing them confidence, respect, love and some food when possible.
The results of these 9 years of work are palpabe. Our first students are now fathers and mothers, some are studying in high-school, others are working and are a true reflection of the Lords work in their lives.
Itīs wonderful to know that each of these children have been rescued from very difficult situations and have been impacted by Jesusīlove.
We are sure that we will find more support for this project to continue, so that more lives are transformed by the power and grace of Jesus Christ.
Thanks a lot for your valuable support.
Please pray for the volunteer teachers who are committed to the development of this project.
Pray for the Lord to continue providing the necessary funds for the construction of the school.
Pray for the seed that has been planted into the childrenīs hearts to grow and give good fruit.
